COLLABORATE WITH US
Smart Underwear enables real-time measurement of gut microbiome metabolic activity through continuous monitoring of hydrogen in flatus.
Understanding microbiome metabolism has broad implications for nutrition, gastroenterology, and therapeutic development.
We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with investigators advancing the basic science of microbiome research.
GRANT COLLABORATIONS
We are happy to collaborate as co-investigators on NIH, USDA, and industry-sponsored grants to add intestinal gas measurements to your proposal. Objective measurements strengthen proposals, and intestinal gas serves as a real-time proxy for microbiome metabolic activity and short-chain fatty acid production. Intestinal gas can also monitor dietary intervention compliance. We have materials that plug directly into your proposal and can help develop new research directions.
FEE-FOR-SERVICE
We provide intestinal gas measurement services on a fee-for-service basis to investigators with existing funding who want to incorporate intestinal gas measurements into a project. We handle device preparation, calibration, data analysis, and reporting. We can provide Smart Underwear devices for your team to distribute, or ship kits directly to your participants anywhere in the US.
TURNKEY RESEARCH
We design and execute complete studies with intestinal gas measurements for up to 100 participants. Our capabilities include a metabolic kitchen for controlled feeding, stool and blood collection, microbiome sequencing with taxonomic and functional profiling, and SCFA measurement. The UMD IRB has been supportive of Smart Underwear studies with fast turnaround.
